An 87-year-old woman from Illinois is suing the Isle of Capri Casinos Company after a computer malfunction led her to believe that she had hit a $42 million jackpot.
Pauline McKee was playing on the Miss Kitty slot machine at the Isle Casino in Waterloo, Iowa last year when the bells and lights started going and the staff came over to congratulate her on her win.
But just after the ‘win’ staff noticed something was wrong, as the top payout of the slot was only $10,000. The machine display indicated that she had won $41,797,550. The casino informed her it was a computer error and that she would not be winning any money.
After the investigations, it was determined that a communication board error had caused the false bonus.
McKee filed a suit last week claiming consumer fraud and breach of contract. Her attorney is preparing the argument that the Isle Casino did not regularly act upon any of the programming updates available for the slot machine in question.
