A clever group of con-men has been arrested in Kangwong Island, South Korea, reports Asia One. The group were caught having installed miniscule cameras in the card shoes at Baccarat tables, giving them access to the card’s values before they were dealt. It was a wide ring of operatives, including a dealer who worked for the casino and ilegally installed the device, as well as several gamblers who would monitor the camera footage and communicate which bets to make to their partners in crime.
The crime ring was made up of bitter gamblers who had lost over $4 million at the casino. But pride came before their fall as they tried to blackmail the casino with the “found” camera, saying that they’d tell the media that the casino itself had planted the camera to fix the odds. The casino refused to be blackmailed and discovered the scam.
The group had already cheated the casino successfully 22 times using the hidden cameras before their plot was uncovered.
